Major international promotion of the Biocant ecosystem

It has been a long and productive week for Biocant, with BIO-Europe Spring 2026 taking place in Portugal. In addition to the presence of the Biocant association in partnership with the Municipality of Cantanhede, at Portugal’s national booth, it is also worth noting the presence of three other entities based in the park that, together, form the Organizing Committee responsible for bringing this international event to Portugal: P-BIO – Portuguese Bioindustry Association, Biocant Park, and CoLAB AccelBio.

This presence is further reinforced by multiple Biocant companies, such as Exogenus Therapeutics, CEV Converde, Immunethep, and Magellan. This highlights not only the innovation capacity and potential of the Portuguese biotechnology ecosystem but also Cantanhede’s vision, through its investment in infrastructure and technological platforms, which enabled the creation of Biocant — a pioneering ecosystem in Portugal that remains a unique center of innovation and a national benchmark.

In this context, on Saturday, the 21st, the park hosted one of BIO-Europe Spring’s pre-events, the “Centro Region Site Tour,” which aimed to introduce visitors—particularly foreign visitors—to the innovation ecosystem of the Centro Region, in which Biocant serves as a key hub.

The biotechnology sector, in which Cantanhede has made a strategic investment, has been growing steadily in Portugal, generating an increasing number of patents and helping to retain talent and skilled workers. Globally, various 2025 projections point to revenue growth exceeding 13%, more than 100,000 new companies, and over 750,000 new jobs.
