3. MAIN GOAL: The BCheeSE project aims to ensure the traceability, authenticity, and added value of the Serra da Estrela DOP Cheese (QSE PDO) supply chain. It is based on a national partnership that brings together producer associations, R&D entities, companies in the sector, and the Center of Competence for Family Farming and Agroecology. This initiative aims to promote organizational innovation by establishing integrated and innovative approaches to production organization, tailored to the realities of small-scale family farming and multi-crop production.

10. FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM THE EUROPEAN UNION THROUGH THE RECOVERY AND RESILIENCE PLAN (PRR): 320 318,15 EUR, of which 49 235,97 EUR is allocated to Biocant – Technology Transfer Association (100% co-financing)

11. OBJECTIVES, ACTIVITIES, AND EXPECTED/ACHIEVED RESULTS

A. The project has the following strategic objectives:

1. Identification and systematization of critical points and solutions (checklists and best practices):

  • Conducting focus groups
  • Identifying critical points in the supply chain and creating a framework of variables
  • Developing checklists and operational protocols

 

2. Co-development of benchmarks for the integrated management of the production and commercial supply chain for products:

  • Assessment of benchmarks and thresholds for processes, ingredients, and products
  • Assessment of the carbon footprint throughout the supply chain
  • Adapting supply chain products to new market trends while ensuring product identity

3. Creation and implementation of a blockchain platform:

  • Assessment of data to be systematically collected for inclusion in databases
  • Integration of different databases
  • Creation of the blockchain platform

 

Expected Results (Indicators):

1. 30% increase in the number of QSE DOP milk producers

2. 20% increase in the number of QSE DOP Certified Cheese Makers

3. Participation in 2 international events
