Biocant at Innovating Health Together Conference

The 𝗨𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸, a device that monitors bladder activity and helps prevent urinary retention, was the winning project of this year’s Cantanhede Innovation Days, held at Biocant in Cantanhede. The initiative is part of the European EIT Health programme, which challenges student teams to develop innovative solutions for real healthcare problems.
Biocant – Associação de Transferência de Tecnologia is a co-organiser of the event, led by the 𝗥&𝗗 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 of Universidade de Coimbra, in partnership with the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology and the ULS de Coimbra (Hospitais Arcebispo João Crisóstomo and Centro de Medicina de Reabilitação da Região Centro – Rovisco Pais), with the support of Câmara Municipal de Cantanhede and Biocant Park.
The jury included Carlos Fernandes, Executive Administrator of Biocant Associação, and Sérgio Fernandes, Director of the Department of Economic and Social Development of the Municipality of Cantanhede.
The winning team – Anilza Cynthia N. Nhanala, Matilde Godinho and Pietra Martinez – received a €1.200 prize (supported by 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀/FHC Group and Critical Software) and will represent the University of Coimbra at the EIT Health European finals in Paris next November.
