Genomics Open Day

Genomics is driving a new era in biotechnology, and in this context, the UC-Biotech auditorium hosted the 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆, an event Organised by Quilaban (Quilaban Academy), with the support of Illumina, dedicated to exploring the practical applications of this rapidly evolving field.

Conceição Egas, researcher and Head of the Advanced Sequencing Unit at Biocant – Associação de Transferência de Tecnologia, was one of the invited speakers, presenting “𝘋𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪-𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘪𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘤𝘴”.

The event also featured presentations by Joana Magalhães (STAB VIDA), Vanessa Zuzarte Luís (SGS), David Lorenzo Fuentes de la Fuente (Illumina), Álvaro Sánchez-Bernabéu, MSc (Illumina) and Luís Simões (Quilaban), who shared knowledge and experiences on the advances and multiple applications of genomics.

The Biocant Association delegation present at the event discussed the potential of applied genomics and shared knowledge and innovation with other experts, analysing projects with real impact and taking part in scientific networking.
